The aim of this program is to improve the perception of the international medical students from developed countries about the Indian Medical System, by conducting various urban and rural clinical rotation programs on Indian Medical System. Through our program focus on tropical medicine, we intend to orient the International students about various tropical infectious diseases like malaria, Tuberculosis, Dengue fever etc. and their infectious disease treatment, management & prevention. This will be supplemented by the clinical experience in the clinics & hospitals in and around Mumbai. This four week program is offered to pre-med and all levels of medical students for orientation only as OBSERVERS. Students will have complete orientation of the course by the Director as well as interactive sessions through which they will get necessary academics inputs. Along with this they will have regular clinical rotations through a number of hospitals, dispensaries, and clinics where they will get to observe the cases of infectious diseases. Clinical Sites The following hospitals and clinics are a sample of possible rotations during this program. Rotation availability depends on local conditions. Radhibai Watumull Global Hospital: Radhibai Watumull Global Hospital is 100 bedded general hospital having Medicine, Surgery, Ob/Gy.,Orthopaedic, Pathology and Radiology servises. The hospital also has specialized services like ICU, Bolld bank, Kidney Dialysis Unit, Ct scan center. Sushrushya Hospital, Virar: This small, rural hospital presents opportunity for the students to observe healthcare outside the city of Mumbai. Students spend a week in the rural area to get a better perspective on the differences in healthcare services between urban and rural India. Because the hospital is located near the water, and serves a large population of people employed in the fishing industry, students will get to see lots of skin diseases and other related ailments. Working hours are 10am - 1 pm Outpatient Clinic and 3pm - 6 pm for surgery and other activities. (GHRC): Mt. Abu has introduced a novel approach of combining Science & Spirituality, by applying medical practices with spiritual knowledge as the backbone. Patients revere this place since being in the midst of a light and peaceful atmosphere cures half the disease. The mind gains strength to overcome pain and suffering in these lovely and happy surroundings . the hospital has specialty in not only in allopathic medicines but also in alternate medicine such as Acupressure, Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Magnet therapy, Mountain air therapy and Yoga therapy.
SURVODAY HOSPITAL - Sarvoday Hospital, Ghatkopar (W)is 400 bedded charitable hospital in Eastern suburbs of Mumbai. The hospital mainly serves middle class population. There is fairly crowded OPD and good bed occupancy. Besides inpatient facilities, hospital also has diagnosis center. PODDHAR HOSPITAL – Two dayes they will be oriented about Ayurveda- an ancient Indian holistic system of medicine which teaches how to lead healthy life and take care of various ailments. DR MHATRE – Clinic – These clinic is exactly situated in biggest Asia slum area called dharavi. Here you will be exposed to the patients with variety of tropical and waterborne disease like Malaria, Tuberculosis, Jaundice and Skin allergies. & Other infectious disease. DR MHETA – Clinic – He is General Physician, Here you will be exposed to the patients with variety of disease, Tuberculosis, Skin allergies. & Other infectious disease.
