The pride of Kerala and a testimony to nature's splendour
and human innovation, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated
on the banks of the Periyar lake - an artificial lake, at
Thekkady. Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed
in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grasslands.
Below this thick green canopy roam herds of elephants, sambars,
tigers, gaurs, lion tailed macaques and Nilgiri langurs.
In
addition to elephant rides, cruises on the lake and treks
to the ruined Mangaladevi temple - a beautiful old stone temple
situated in the heart of the Thekkady forest, this sanctuary
offers the unique opportunity to watch and photograph wild
elephants at close quarters. |

Earlier known as Trivandrum, is the capital city of Kerala.
The name literally splits into "Tiru","Anantha""puram"
meaning "the town of Lord ANANTHA"..

town has a history of supporting fine art and culture. A city
of tradition and space technology, Thiruvananthapuram truly
represents the contrasts India is well known for. Being the
capital of a state which boasts 100% literacy, it is both

Kanyakumari-
Lands End of India
Lying at the southern end of India at the confluence of the
Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, Kanyakumari
is the only place where you can watch the sunset and moonrise
simultaneously on a full moon night. The town is also known
for the Swami Vivekananda memorial hallowed by his footprints
and the Kanyakumari shore temple. |
